WHAT IS A PACER AND HOW CAN THEY HELP ME?

Pacers are experienced runners who volunteer to help participants reach specific finish times. They’ll keep an eye on the clock so you don’t have to – helping you stay on pace, manage effort, and focus on the run.

Whether your goal is to finish strong or set a new personal best, pacers are there to guide you through the tough miles.

HOW DO I FIND MY PACER ON RACE DAY?

They’ll be easy to spot on race day, just look for their official pace signs and pace team shirts. Each pacer will be assigned to the start wave that matches their goal pace, so participants will line up with others running at a similar speed.

WHAT PACE GROUPS WILL BE AVAILABLE?

Marathon paces covered will be, at a minimum: 3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:15, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:33.

Half marathon paces covered will be, at a minimum: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, and a 16:00 pace sweeper through 10M.

Additional paces may be offered as interest and number of pacers allow.

HOW ARE START WAVE ASSIGNMENTS DETERMINED?

We request an estimated finish time from each participant during registration to create the best possible race experience for everyone. This helps us assign participants to the most appropriate wave, grouped with a pacer and others of similar pace.

If you submitted a race result link as verification, it must be from an event completed after January 1, 2025 for it to be valid and can be any race distance. Wave assignments can be found in your BEYOND MONUMENTAL PARTICIPANT ACCOUNT.

The deadline to update your estimated finish time or change your results verification link is 11:59 PM September 25, 2026.

If you’d like to change your assigned wave, you can visit the Wave Change Station at the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pickup (Nov 5-6, 2026). Wave changes are subject to availability and at the discretion of our team.

CAN I UPDATE MY ESTIMATED FINISH TIME OR START WAVE?

Participants may update their estimated finish time and results verification link in their BEYOND MONUMENTAL PARTICIPANT ACCOUNT until 11:59 PM ET September 25, 2026, to be placed in the appropriate wave.

Expecting to run a 3:55 (8:58 per mile) Marathon / 1:58 (8:58 per mile) Half Marathon or faster? To receive a preferred wave assignment, you must provide a link to your results from a previous race completed between January 1, 2025 to the current date. 

If you’d like to change your assigned wave after September 25, 2026, you can visit the Wave Change Station at the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pickup (Nov 5-6, 2026). Wave changes are subject to availability and at the discretion of our team.

INTERESTED IN BEING A PACER?

– Pacers will receive complimentary registration and a performance Pace Team Race Shirt.
– All applications are subject to approval by Beyond Monumental; submitting an application does not guarantee you will be a pacer.
– You will receive an email indicating if your application has been accepted or declined.
– You are not officially registered until you receive a confirmation email.
