IU Health to Become Official Medical Provider of the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon

Indiana’s largest marathon partners with Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive health system

INDIANAPOLIS – Beyond Monumental, the organization responsible for planning and executing the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, is pleased to announce that Indiana University Health has become the Official Medical Provider for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. The commitment is effective immediately and IU Health will begin official medical services at the 15th Anniversary event to take place on November 5, 2022. The agreement will partner Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive health system with one of the state’s most expansive single-day sporting events.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, and winding through the heart of downtown Indianapolis and the city’s historic and scenic neighborhoods, the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon has grown into one of the 15th largest and most popular marathons in the United States. The annual event attracts more than 15,000 endurance athletes, including Olympians, Boston Marathon qualifiers, and personal PR seekers, from around the country. IU Health will fully staff and provide onsite medical professionals, administering essential health and medical care to the competing participants, and the thousands of spectators that line the streets along each of the three race day courses (distances of 26.2 miles, 13.1 miles, and 3.1 miles).

“We are thrilled to welcome IU Health as the Official Medical Provider of our signature event,” said Jed Cornforth, Executive Director, Beyond Monumental. “The health and well-being of each of our competitors is paramount. This partnership helps ensure that we will continue to offer participants excellent medical support and care throughout the event.”

“Our team of high-skilled providers is uniquely qualified to treat the medical concerns that may arise on race day,” said Dr. Kevin Gebke, Senior Vice President, IU Health Community Medicine. “Whether it’s caring for the amateur runners competing in their first race, elite athletes hoping to qualify for an exclusive competition, or spectators cheering on the competitors, we’re prepared to provide the trusted and compassionate care the people of Indiana have come to rely on while demonstrating to visitors from across the country why IU Health is preferred by the people of our state.”
