2009 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon
Welcome to the 2009 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon on November 7, 2009.
We had a wonderful 2008 race with over 3400 registrants from 43 states and 6 countries. The beautiful course highlights a number of key Indianapolis landmarks and neighborhoods and is flat and fast and a good Boston Marathon qualifier. Richard Kandie of Kenya won the 2008 marathon in a course record of 2:22:27. Zeddy Chepkoech won the female marathon event in a course record of 2:41:30. The male half marathon winner was Scott Spitz 1:11:33; and the female half marathon winner was Jeri Meyerholtz 1:28:28. The marathon wheelchair winner was Joe Booth 3:15:44. All three are course records
The course starts and finishes near the Indiana State Capitol Building in downtown Indianapolis. Excellent accommodations, restaurants, stores and museums are all within walking distance of the start/finish line. Course highlights include a number of beautiful monuments, Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the Indianapolis Colts), the Arts Garden, Mass Ave cultural district, beautiful neighborhoods, Broad Ripple, Butler University, the Indianapolis Museum of Art and many more.
There are many stories of accomplishment from this past years’ runners and walkers; and we look forward to hearing your story for the 2009 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon.
